Krav Maga Books
To date Gershon Ben has written three books on Krav Maga and the Krav Maga Yashir approach to dealing with violence. Working professionally in the security industry Gershon knows the importance of understanding the contextual elements of violent events. Not all violence is the same and to simply reduce solutions down to physical techniques is overly simplistic e.g., a particular “technique” may use the same defense to deal with a knife slash as it does to intercept and block a knife stab, however the intent between these two attacks are very different; slashes are typically used to create superficial injuries whilst stabbing actions indicate an extremely committed assailant who is trying to cause serious injury and possibly even death etc. Even at the purely “physical” level it is important to understand the “nature” of an attack. However, when it comes to prediction, prevention, and avoidance it is essential to understand the situation you are in so you avoid escalating an incident that could otherwise have been avoided or de-escalated etc. Most violence begins with some form of social interaction, and so being able to recognize where this is heading is essential for dealing with a potential aggressor in a non-physical way. Gershon Ben Keren’s books explain the methods and processes that potentially violent aggressors engaged in and how these can be dealt with verbally. Even if an incident is an inevitably violent one, understanding that this is the direction in the interaction is going in means that you can better prepare yourself for the physical confrontation.
