Krav Maga Yashir Boston offers a comprehensive 60-minute introductory class that is designed to equip newcomers to the system with foundational self-defense skills and prepare them for the school’s regular training sessions/classes. This introductory class designed by Head Instructor Gershon Ben Keren, introduces participants to Krav Maga's unique training methodologies, emphasizing rapid development of combat readiness i.e., the original goal of Krav Maga was to get an untrained soldier proficient in hand-to-hand combat in the shortest possible time.
This introductory class covers essential aspects of self-defense/Krav Maga, including drills to enhance reaction time, techniques for controlling range and distance, effective movement strategies, and methods for blocking punches and intercepting knife attacks. Participants learn various training and fighting stances, understanding their practical applications for real-life violent situations and incidents. Additionally, the class teaches safe pad-holding and striking techniques, focusing on generating power through coordinated body movements involving the hips, back, and shoulders, along with effective weight transfer.
A key component of this class is its emphasis on Krav Maga's core concepts and principles, which although largely established in the 1940s have been refined since to create an efficient and effective framework of ideas and concepts that can be used for self-defense. Unlike traditional martial arts, Krav Maga employs a distinct teaching methodology that accelerates the development of fighting skills, getting people proficient at fighting/self-defense in an extremely short period of time. This approach enables students of all levels to train together, progressing at their own pace without the need for separate classes based on experience and/or belt-levels etc.
